What does a One Life Gay Commitment Ceremony include?

Your commitment ceremony can follow a structure similar to that of a wedding if you would like, however nothing is set in stone and you are free to have the ceremony exactly as you want it.

Here are some of the things you might like to include and when we meet we will go through all the various options and possibilities.

A Blessing
You might like to ask your parents, friends or all of your guests to offer their blessing for your commitment.

Readings
There are lots of poems and readings about love and making a commitment out there; you might like to choose words that are important to you or a poem that you both like. You might also like to ask someone to read something they have chosen or written and we will be happy to read out anything you have written yourselves.

Your Relationship
Stories from your relationship such as dating, holidays, travelling, living together, family etc. The story of how you met or how you became engaged.

The Future
Words about what making a commitment means to you both and your hopes, dreams and plans for your future together.

Commitment Vows
You can use traditional vows of which we have many to chose from or you can write your own, we also offer a vow writing service if you can’t get what you want to express into words.

Family Vows
You can include your children in the ceremony if you have them.

Music
You can choose any music that you like from a piece of classical music to a favourite songs or even a live musician or singer which we can help you to find.
