How does it work?
You can contact us directly or we can be booked through your Funeral Director. We’ll arrange to come and meet with you at your home or somewhere else convenient to you to discuss the Funeral Ceremony. During the meeting we will guide you through the various options and will spend time listening to your memories of the person who has died and how you would like them to be remembered. You will have access to our collection of funeral poems and readings which you might like to choose from and we can also help you to find alternative venues to hold the funeral ceremony if you would prefer not to hold it at the crematorium or burial ground.
The Funeral Ceremony will then be written for you and you will receive a first draft within 48 hours to which you can make any changes or additions if you wish.
What will a One Life Funeral Ceremony include?
The focus of a One Life Funeral Ceremony is the life tribute which will be about their life, qualities and characteristics. The ceremony that surrounds the life tribute can include: poems, readings and music, a short silence to remember the person who has died and words from family and friends.
Can we say something?
Yes, we are happy to include anyone who would like to contribute to the ceremony, whether it is reading a poem or saying a few words.
Where can a Funeral Ceremony be held?
As well as at a burial ground or crematorium, a Funeral Ceremony can also be held:
- At home.
- In a marquee.
- In a local hotel.
- At a natural burial ground.
- In a crematorium.
- At a natural beauty spot.
- In a theatre - for those with a love of the stage!
- At their school, place of work, football ground or any place that was important to them.
- In any venue where you have permission to have the body present.
The Funeral Ceremony can also be held at a separate time to the cremation or burial which means you will not be restricted by time restraints, for more details of where a Funeral Ceremony can be held please click here.
How long will the ceremony last?
We place no time restrictions on the length of the ceremony however if you choose to hold the funeral at the crematorium you will be limited to 20 minutes as set by the crematorium, double slots may be booked and they will incur extra costs. Please speak to us about alternative venues to hold the Funeral Ceremony.
Who will conduct the Funeral Ceremony?
The ceremony will be conducted by Maria who has been performing funerals and ceremonies for over 10 years.
Are you Humanists?
We are not Humanists nor are we affiliated to any religion or belief system, this leaves you free to include the words, readings and contributions that you would like without any restrictions.
