One Life Funeral for a Baby

A personal funeral service for the loss of a baby.

A funeral service for a very young, stillborn or miscarried baby is a time to acknowledge their brief life and is an opportunity to say goodbye in a way that is right for you and your family.

The loss of a baby during pregnancy, miscarriage, stillbirth or shortly after birth needs to be recognised and marked in a way which is appropriate for you and your family. One Life Ceremonies will write and conduct a respectful and personal service for your baby. We will take the time to meet with you to talk through ideas for the funeral service, including how you would like your baby’s life to be acknowledged and whether you would like the service to be completely non-religious or contain elements of religion.

You can include:

• Contributions and words from your friends and other family members.
• Favourite or significant poems, stories and readings.
• Religious readings and music if you wish.
• The music of your choice.

Some other ideas for a baby’s funeral service:

• You might like to have a few words said about the name you may have chosen for your baby. 
• You can include a meaningful and symbolic action such as lighting candles, releasing balloons or blowing bubbles.
• You can ask other children coming along to draw or write something for or about your child (these can be kept in a memory box or book).

The service will be conducted by Maria at the location of your choice (this can be held separately to the burial or cremation).

One Life Children’s Funerals are available in Leeds, Huddersfield, Harrogate, York, Sheffield, Halifax, Bradford, Wakefield and all surrounding areas within Yorkshire with travel included in our fee. We are also happy to travel outside of this area on request.
